Six Rivers National Forest workshop August 7

CALIFORNIA: The Six Rivers National Forest is hosting a workshop about the Smith River National Recreation Area Restoration and Motorized Travel Management Project. The workshop will share results from public scoping and provide an opportunity to have dialogue about the issues, proposed alternatives, and how to comment on the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS).
The workshop will be August 7, 2013, from 6 to 8 pm at the Mountain Elementary School, 55 Azalea Lane, Gasquet, California.
This motorized travel management project proposes change the National Forest Transportation System to provide motorized access to dispersed recreation opportunities (camping, hunting, fishing, hiking, horseback riding, etc.); provide a diversity of motorized recreation opportunities; provide for administrative needs, and reduce ecological and cultural resource risk and maintenance costs.
