Title: Rep Jones Introduces Legislation to Set Aside Consent Decree (OBX)
Post by: Keith Holman on January 30, 2009, 10:49:42 am
Even while our very own Carla Boucher meets with others to attempt to hammer out a long-term acceptable plan for access to the Cape Hatteras National Seashore and Recreation Area, US Rep Walter Jones (R-NC) introduces legislation to set aside the "consent" decree issued to impose punitive measures on beach recreationists.

As you read the article, you will note that this is the same bill introduced in the 110th Congress which never got out of committee for a vote. Recent news articles suggest to me that bipartisan support will be required to ever get anything through this House of "Representatives". Urge your Congressman to support letting the people who own the land (rather than a judge) determine rules for this federal Recreation area.
