In the November E-news, there was mention of UFWDA legislative case load - with the Moab RMP.

Can someone "Quickly" let me know what United is doing in this regards?   U4WDA is working on several efforts to get comments submitted that are favorable to motorized access.   If we know what United is doing, we can focus our efforts without duplicating the same thing.

thanks,
Steve

Steve

I will try and get ahold of Carla, and see what she has done specifically on this.

Thanks

UFWDA comments relate to the legal insufficiency of the DEIS.  I have cited to legal deficiencies in complying with particular NEPA regulations, for example sections 1502 and 1508 of the CEQ implementing regulations.  I'll post our comments here when they are completed.  I've left comments regarding particular OHV routes in the your capable hands and the capable hands over at BRC.

I'm sorry that I haven't made time to get back to you personally as there are always 10 pounds of legal issues to work through in a 5 pound week.  I find it rare anymore that I can carve any client reponses "quickly".  I will try better.

The Moab RMP has been a significant event for us at U4WDA.  Hundreds of hours of collaborative work has been put into identifying all of the issues that concerns the motorized community.  A collaborative effort best describes it - Red Rock 4 Wheelers, BRC, U4WDA, MFFW, USA-All and countless others carried a lot of weight.  I'd like to be able to say UFWDA had some part in it too - but need to be able to cite some specifics.

Our Board of Directors met tonight... they are very interested in knowing what United has done in Utah.

Peter,

THANKS for the support!  It is great to get comments submitted on behalf of NZFWDA.
We have heard that comments were submitted by some of the environmental groups in other countries (including NZ) supporting the SUWA proposal on closures.  It's great to have your support here!!!
