ToddLet's Red Rock Congress!
Wild Utah Local Action Month
What is Wild Utah Local Action Month?
From August 11 through September 5, both the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate have a local "in-district work period." Every member of Congress has at least one, and in many cases several local offices in their home state or district. Wild Utah Local Action Month coincides with the in-district work period, when your members of Congress are working in your state. You can become a part of Wild Utah Local Action Month by scheduling a meeting with your Representative or Senators to ask for their support of Utah wilderness. If you would like to participate, please fill out this form.
Why a local meeting?
Local meetings are easy to organize because they take place in your community instead of Washington, DC. They offer the unique opportunity to:
Build support for Utah wilderness among members of Congress by showing them that their constituents care enough about the issue to ask for a meeting
Thank current congressional supporters of America's Red Rock Wilderness Act and to encourage them to continue to support protection of Utah's wild places
Connect with other Utah wilderness activists in your area
Involve your friends and family in an issue that is important to you
All without having to make the trip to Washington, DC!
How will the SUWA staff assist participants?
The SUWA grassroots and legislative staff will help you locate your Senators' or Representative's nearest district office and give guidance on how to set up a meeting, provide you with information on current Utah wilderness issues and how to discuss them with your member of Congress, and connect you with other Utah wilderness activists in your area. To get you started, click here for an in-district meeting guide.
If you would like to participate or would like more information, please fill out this form or contact Jackie Feinberg, SUWA's National Grassroots Organizer at firstname.lastname@example.org. Once you have volunteered, SUWA staff and/or local organizers in your area will contact you with the next steps.
