Inyo National Forest Announces Field Trips - OHV Users Should Attend
Marty Hornick, Trail Program Coordinator and Travel Management Project Co-Leader for the Inyo National Forest , just emailed me their Travel Management -Route Designation Update for September 2008. He wanted me to pass a copy along to all our subscribers in California and Nevada and let them know about the upcoming Field Trips they have planned for October 2008.
A couple key points he asked me to make are that they are holding these trips before the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) comes out, so that folks can learn how they will be analyzing certain routes in various alternatives. Their DEIS isn't due to be released until early 2009.
The field trips should be pretty educational and help folks be able to comment more effectively once the DEIS is released. These trips are not intended to be public comment sessions.
They are also asking folks who plan on attending to RSVP. This is really important because it allows the folks at the Forest Service office to make sure they have enough staff, materials and vehicles on hand.
IF YOU ARE GOING TO GO, LET THEM KNOW!
A copy of the information is pasted below. Please take a couple of minutes to read it over and pass it on. It includes information on who to contact to let them know you want to attend.
JUST REMEMBER, PUBLIC INVOLVEMENT IS CRUCIAL TO KEEP RECREATION AREAS OPEN, PLEASE GET INVOLVED!
Thanks in advance for your support,
Public Lands Department Manager
