Which presidential canidate does UFWDA endorse and why?

Has there been an official endorsment?

Doug, there has not been an official endorsement of a Presidential candidate.  In years past UFWDA has made an endorsement and had been asked by its membership to refrain from doing so.  The members who contacted us regarding the issue felt strongly that our members are multi-issue voters and that the image of UFWDA was weakened when we endorsed a candidate based solely on their stand on recreational access or environmental issues directly impacting four wheel drive access.

One of the best benfits about UFWDA is that we are not prohibited from lobbying like many other recreation organizations.  In the years that UFWDA did endorse a Presidential candidate we felt strongly that we did so within our mission to protect, promote, and provide 4x4 opportunities worldwide but our membership spoke out and criticized for doing so.

The Republican ticket, whether it be a Presidential candidate or a US Congressional representative, historically have voting records or platforms that offer the greatest support for four wheel drive recreational access.

Thank you for your question.

Very truly yours,

It is a great answer.  It's very unfortunate that she has to give that answer, instead of an endorsement strictly based on which candidate would offer the best support for this organization.  No more, no less.

Thanks for the response Carla. While there are certainly many issues to consider during this, or any, election I don't understand getting backlash for endorsing a canidate based soley upon OUR objective. Which is; to promote and protect our right to use public lands for all types of recreation but more specifically in a 4 wheel drive vehicle. Does the NRA recieve critisism for an endorsment? I don't think so. How about the pro life groups? All special intrest groups endorse a canidate on a single issue and, in my opinion, so should we.
