On November 6th, William Horn of the Birch, Horton, Bittner and Cherot Law Offices in Washington, D.C. submitted an Appeal from Decision Notice and Finding of No Significant Impact for the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest Travel Management Project September, 22, 2008.
After the Decision was signed by Jeanne Higgins, Forest Supervisor, Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest on September 22nd, WOHVA began working with a coalition of Forest users. The WOHVA Board of Directors felt that with over 50% of the Forest Service roads & trails being closed in the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest, Jeanne Higgins had left us no choice but to Appeal her decision.
WOHVA was joined in this Appeal by the Wisconsin Bear Hunters Association, the Wisconsin Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation, the U.S. Sportsmen's Alliance Foundation, the Wisconsin Chapters of Safari Club International, Specialty Vehicle Institute of America, the Motorcycle Industry Council, the BlueRibbon Coalition, the Crandon Area Chamber of Commerce, the Wisconsin Off-Highway Motorcycle Association, and the Recreational Off-Highway Vehicle Association. WOHVA would like to thank these other outstanding groups for realizing that your right to recreate in Wisconsin's National Forest has been severly restricted by this terrible Decision.
