Mar 12,2011 - BLM Invites Public Comments On OHV Grant Application

North Coast off-highway vehicle (OHV) enthusiasts can review and comment on a Bureau of Land Management application for state grant funds in a public meeting Tuesday, March 22, at 6 p.m., at the BLM Arcata Field Office, 1695 Heindon Rd., in Arcata.

The Arcata Field Office is seeking approximately $70,000 in grant funds from the state of California’s Off Highway Motorized Vehicle Recreation (OHMVR) Division.

Funds would be used in fiscal year 2012 for trail maintenance, law enforcement, and facilities operations and maintenance related to off-highway vehicle activities at Samoa Dunes Recreation Area.

Anyone interested can review the preliminary grant application at the BLM Arcata Field Office or online at www.blm.gov/ca/arcata.

Written comments should be sent to: Bureau of Land Management, 1695 Heindon Rd., Arcata, CA 95521, Attention: Bruce Cann; or emailed to bcann@blm.gov. Comments must be submitted no later than Wednesday, April 4, 2011.

The BLM’s California field offices annually request OHVMR funds to help manage OHV use and provide riding opportunities on BLM-managed public lands throughout the state. All grant applications can be seen online at OHMVR's website at http://ohv.parks.ca.gov/.

Information on the Arcata Field Office application is available by contacting BLM Outdoor Recreation Planner Bruce Cann at (707) 825-2322, or by email at bcann@blm.gov.
