ORVs in Maryland
« on: March 27, 2011, 01:12:44 pm »
State of Maryland is looking at ORV usage and of course they are seeing the negative side and how they need to control/eradicate the problems. They are accepting input from the public. I know some of you from surrounding states use these areas as well.

For purposes of this discussion, MD is including 4x4 trucks and SUVs; ATVs; motorcycles; pedal-driven mountain bikes; snowmobiles and horses(?!).

There are only 3 legal ORV areas in MD. Greenridge SF (Flintstone); Savage River (western) and Pocomoke (eastern).

If you ever use (or hope to use) these areas or others, please take the time to provide comments after reading some of the material here: ORV Report | Forest Service | Maryland Department of Natural Resources

Useful things to remember:
1) Let them know what type of ORV you use
2) Include some type of background on the economic impact (fuel, licenses, auto parts, camping fees including groceries, etc)
3) Emphasize that you want MORE legal opportunities, not fewer
4) Remember your comments are subject to eventually being made public so be respectful of the medium as well as the message. (You may wish to limit personally identifiable information as well.)

Thank you!
What are you supposed to do when you see an "endangered" animal eating an "endangered" plant?
