Since our last update, WOHVA has diligently assuring that environmentally responsible OHV recreational opportunities remain available nationwide and are expanded here the Badger State. Just a few of the things WOHVA has been up to recently include:
Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest (CNNF) staffers from the Laona/Lakewood Ranger District and WOHVA met to discuss details for WOHVA’s current RTP Grant to rehabilitate the major access route for heavy equipment to Forest Road #55552 (The Pipeline). Discussion centered on trail implementation of the current Grant and extended maintenance (as well as future funding) for The Pipeline. WOHVA anticipates hands-on implementation of the First Grant for The Pipeline to begin on-the-ground work in early September. Watch the WOHVA Website for updates on how you can assist WOHVA in saving this valuable motorized recreational resource with your volunteer efforts.
WOHVA participated in a meeting of the Crandon Off-Road Vehicle Park, Inc. Board of Directors. Focus of the meeting centered on assembling a project leadership team to promote the MRA Project, website development and filing of paperwork with the IRS and Wisconsin Department of Revenue.
WOHVA presented the Motorized Recreation Area (MRA) Concept Plan to the Forest County Economic Development Partnership (FCEDP) at their regularly scheduled monthly meeting.
FCEDP is a joint cooperative venture between local communities to encourage economic development in Forest County. The FCEDP has expressed interest in assuring the Forest County becomes the host site for a large MRA which would become a regional recreation destination for OHV enthusiasts in the Midwest.

WOHVA’s event (16th Annual Northwoods-Mole Lake Jeep Jamboree USA was again featured to Peterson’s 4-Wheel & Off-Road Magazine.

WOHVA’s volunteers again served lunch to OHM enthusiasts at the Annual Ride for Research in Wabeno, Wisconsin.
WOHVA issued out first “WOHVA Alert”. This new feature of our website allows WOHVA to immediately inform OHV enthusiasts of important issues which require their immediate action. In addition to our “WOHVA Alerts” feature, WOHVA also informs all those on our WOHVA Alerts Email Roster when an Alert is issued. This WOHVA Update concerned LRB 0629.

The BlueRibbon Coalition devoted two full pages in their premier publication (BlueRibbon Magazine) to WOHVA. The article featured our efforts to promote environmentally responsible motorized recreation through our WOHVA Spill Kit Program. The WOHVA Board of Directors held their regular bi-monthly meeting in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. WOHVA Individual Members can review the agenda, minutes, financial reports and other documents pertaining to all Board Meetings in the WOHVA Updates Forum located in the Forums Section of the WOHVA website.
WOHVA Volunteers staffed the “Ticket Booth on the Hill” for the Spring Brush Run Off-Road Races at the Crandon International Off-Road Raceway.
The Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest, Nicolet Secure Rural Schools Resource Advisory Committee (RAC) held their fourth meeting last month. WOHVA represents National Off-Road Associations on this committee.
The RAC is responsible for approximately $450,000 in grant projects in Oconto and Forest County located within the boundaries of the Nicolet National Forest. The Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Act replaces the 25% Fund Act of 1908.
The Bi-Monthly Board of Directors Meeting for the Lake States Resource Alliance was held last month at the Michigan/Wisconsin Timber Producers Offices in Rhinelander, Wisconsin. WOHVA continues to have a seat on this BOD. WOHVA attended and participated in the meeting.

WOHVA launched A new facebook features (the Great Northern Trail Ride facebook Page)
WOHVA encourages our members to visit these new features and also plans to encourage participants at these events to post picture and relay the details of their adventures in these venues.
WOHVA Volunteers again assisted the Kettle Moraine Sport Riders when the hosted their Annual Father’s Day Hill Climb in West Bend, Wisconsin.
The Board of Directors of the Crandon Off-Road Vehicle Park Incorporated (CORVPI) again met to explore the possibility of assuring that Forest County becomes the host location for a Motorized Recreation Area (MRA) here in the Badger State. WOHVA participates in all meetings CORVPI meetings and has recently stepped forward to develop and fund the first six months of their soon to be released website.
