                                                                            WOHVA Update November, 2011

Since our last update, WOHVA has been working diligently assuring that environmentally responsible OHV recreational opportunities remain available nationwide and are expanded here the Badger State. Just a few of the things WOHVA has been up to recently include:

WOHVA attended the regular monthly meeting for the Crandon Off-Road Vehicle Park, Inc. (CORVPI). Regular updates on CORVPI and all WOHVA special projects can be found in the “Projects” window located on the WOHVA Webpage.  Project Updates are available to WOHVA Individual Members on-line and are provided quarterly to WOHVA Supporting Groups and clubs/organizations that have expressed interest by contacting WOHVA and offering their assistance in helping WOHVA expand OHV opportunities here in the Badger State.

WOHVA attended the Lake States Resource Alliance (LSRA) Quarterly Directors  Meeting at Trees for Tomorrow in Eagle River, Wisconsin.  WOHVA Executive Director, John Schnorr was unanimously elected LSRA President. The LSRA is a group of access advocates focusing on a multiple-use approach to industry and recreation in National Forests in and around the Lake States Area (Michigan, Minnesota & Wisconsin).

The WOHVA Board of Directors held their regular bi-monthly meeting in Fredonia, Wisconsin.
WOHVA Individual Members can review the agenda, minutes, financial reports and other documents pertaining to all Board Meetings in the WOHVA Updates Forum located in the Forums Section of the WOHVA website.

WOHVA participated in the regular monthly meeting of the Lake States Resource Alliance (LSRA) Land Use & Legislation Committee (LULC). The committee recommends actions on legislation and land management issues affecting public land stakeholders in the lake states region (Michigan, Minnesota & Wisconsin) to the LSRA Board of Directors.

WOHVA was invited to and attended the Forestry Policy Conference at Nicolet Area Technical College in Rhinelander, Wisconsin.  The Conference (hosted by Congressman Sean Duffy (WI-7), Congressman Reid Ribble (WI-8), Congressman Dan Benishek, M.D. (MI-1) and Congressman Chip Cravaack (MN-8) circled around National Forest issues in the lakes states area (Chequamegon/Nicolet, Chippewa, Hiawatha, Ottawa & Superior National Forests).  Discussions focused around forest management issues and featured Tom Tidwell, Chief, U.S. Forest Service.  Attendance was restricted to invited quests (each Congressman was limited to 30 invitations).  WOHVA would like to thank Congressman Sean Duffy for extending WOHVA and invitation.  Attendee’s at WOHVA’s 7th Annual Wisconsin OHV Enthusiasts Workshops will recall that both Congressman Duffy & Ribble had staffers join us at the Mole Lake Lodge & Conference Center last April.

WOHVA was recognized in an article in the October 19th Issue of the The Forest Republican for our continued charitable involvement with yet another Forest County group (the Sokaogon Chippewa Veterans).

WOHVA hosted our Fall Trails Information Meeting.  The meeting focused on discussion centering around numerous trail issues and current WOHVA trail and legislative projects.

WOHVA held our bi-annual WOHVA Trail Guides Meeting. Meeting attendance earns attendee’s merit points which reflect their trail volunteer level and affect their placement on WOHVA Dynamic Trail Guide Roster.  For more information on becoming a WOHVA Trail Guide email HYPERLINK "mailto:info@WOHVA.com" info@WOHVA.com.

Volunteers from WOHVA assisted our friends (and WOHVA Supporting Group) the Kettle Moraine Sport Riders (KMSR) with their annual “Field & Forest” dual sport motorcycle ride.  More than a dozen WOHVA volunteers were on hand to mark this our 5th year providing lunch at this outstanding event.

Representatives from WOHVA attended and participated in the Wisconsin Governor’s State Trails Council Meeting.

“Remember, join and advocate (that’s) the two most important things that you can do!”
