The Bantam Jeep Heritage Festival is revving things up for the third annual event  celebrating Butler, Pa. as the birthplace of the father of all Jeeps. The Festival will jump start everyone's summer with an even more family-friendly event when it's held June 13-16, 2013, Father's Day weekend. It will also feature a new venue, Coopers Lake Campground in Slippery Rock, that offers Jeep owners longer and more challenging trails, room for future Festival growth and a full-service campground.

The Festival's main activities including Jeep Invasion, Jeep Playground, trail rides, show 'n shine, vendors and more will now be featured on Friday and Saturday, June 14 and 15. The 2013 Festival Planning Committee will be working throughout the next few months to plan the event, including extending the activities on Thursday, June 13 and Sunday, June 16.

"We're making these changes as a result of the feedback we've received over the past two years," said Patti Jo Lambert, Festival director. "Our attendees have asked for the opportunity to do more trail rides and to have the event earlier in the summer.   Our new location gives us the opportunity to meet both requests and it provides greater flexibility as we work to grow the event. Plus, having the event over Father's Day weekend is a great time to pay tribute to the Bantam jeep, the father of all Jeeps."

Because the Festival will be held over Father's Day weekend, the main activities previously scheduled on Saturday and Sunday will now take place on Friday and Saturday. "The Festival is a great opportunity for Jeep enthusiasts to create a new Father's Day tradition with their families, and we also recognize that some Festival-goers have long-standing traditions with their Dads so we are changing our schedule so no one misses out on a great time with their Jeep or with their extended family members," said Lambert.  "The Planning Committee may even create some special family-focused Jeep activities on Father's Day to add to the weekend's fun."

Overnight Reservations

For those who camp, Coopers Lake Campground provides the perfect location for a multi-day Jeep-focused family vacation that includes the family dog and crackling campfires. The Campground is just a few miles west of the Festival's previous location. The property can be accessed from Route 422 and it borders the west side of Interstate 79. A fully-stocked lake, hiking trails, hundreds of over-sized wooded camp sites, store and more await campers. Camp fires and pets are welcome. Camping reservations for the Festival will available in January using the campground's online reservation system.

Butler County's hotels, bed and breakfasts and other campgrounds are also looking forward to welcoming Jeepers to Butler.  For lodging information, rates and booking codes, visit the Festival's website, www.bantamjeepfestival.com.  Jeep Festival participant and volunteer registration will be available in early 2013.
