SEMA/TIA OPPOSE CONNECTICUT AND MARYLAND TIRE FUEL EFFICIENCY LEGISLATION

SEMA joined with the Tire Industry Association to oppose two Connecticut bills and a Maryland bill that would require the development of statewide programs to mandate that replacement tires for passenger cars meet fuel efficiency standards. SEMA and TIA recommended that the bills be rejected since these types of replacement tire efficiency programs conflict with federal law, are anti-consumer and anti-small business, and would require a substantial appropriation by the legislature.  For details, contact Steve McDonald at stevem@sema.org.
