Well we didn't finish as high as we would have liked.  Learning curve with new things and some minor mishaps and we finished 13th out of 18 teams.  Not the greatest way to start the season.. but hey we finished all but one course and that was our first goal this year - finish courses, on time, without using a spotter strap.

Here are some pictures for you:

Check it out... while unfortunatly the hood has been removed due to a previous roll we still got coverage on the WE Rocks Global Domination Poster for the 2nd Round of the 2007 WE Rock Series.

We did much better at this event finishing solidly in the top 10....  We finished all but one course, had very few backs and only some small trouble on another course.  Of course we did have a small fire that was taken care of on course.. and Scott (seeing smoke) made a quick exit after we got out of one course.. and injured his foot.  After gimpping around for a week he's doing better now.. but it's still a little painful.

Quote from: Chad Kukla (Team Owner)
It was a great weekend and the guys did an outstanding job as usual. The courses were very deceptive in that they look pretty reasonable for comp courses but, as many of the competitors found out, its tougher than it looks.

We started Friday night by being bored and rewiring the injection harness on the car

Huge thanks to the guy that stopped by on Friday night to help us out. He is a local there in Globe and I gather a Ford Tech as well. He was a huge help in us troubleshooting an electrical gremlin we got in the injection harness. He brought us manuals, testers and stuck around and helped for hours.

Saturday was outstanding with great weather and an outstanding crowd.

Sunday was not to be outdone by Saturday with the temperatures being just a little warmer and I believe a few more people. A great weakend overall.

Have to thank all our sponsors, for we wouldn't be here without them. The Maxxis tires are the best tire we have run, hands down, and the Sway Away Air Shocks performed flawlessly, as usual. Of course, the Rockstomper chassis took a lick'n and kept on tick'n, even after a small fire caused by our pcv valve getting jarred out of the block and throwing oil on the hot exhaust. Scott's excape from the car was a little funny after the fire was out and things settled down

Oh and about the fire:  It happened on course b2 in the middle of the course.

Scott and I worked the fire extinguisher but he never shut down the engine. We kept running the course and finished with a nice score. As we exited the course Scott saw smoke and assumed it was more fire and exited the vehicle... and twisted his ankle.

There was no more fire.. it was just smoke from oil that came thru where the pcv valve used to be (guess we didn't get it back in earlier when we were working on some things).

Hot day, oil on the exhaust - not a good combination.  But we had all the right safety stuff and it was taken care of.

Anyway here are some pictures for you starting with Scott's injury after being wrapped by the local EMT's and Creighton from Maxxis (One of our sponsors) coming to check on him:

Any updates on how you guys did in Washington?
I was in Everett at this time, and forgot about this event.

Too bad you guys are busy on June 30th!  Big weekend at the Rubicon trail and BFG top trails presentation there.

Good luck with the rest of the season also.

Well Team Rockstomper will make the National Finals in Texas; but we didn't have the best weekend on record.  In fact it was a weekend of "Gee, I wish we could do that one again"...  Shocked

Oh well... that's how it goes sometimes.  (Photos courtesy of Steve Rima)

And a few more... On this course Rockstomper beat most of the best in the world.. finishing the course with 3 backups (one of which was a planned backup thru a gate) and the use of the rear steer - no cones were taken in completing this course!  The team really needs to work on putting good courses together and back to back...  Grin

And yes on the third picture down they managed to save the car and make it thru the gate... sometimes things don't work as planned and can still turn out all-right.
