EIS No. 20050533, Draft EIS, AFS, WV, Allegheny Wood Product Easement,
Proposes to Convey an Easement of Right-of-Way along the Railroad Grade
located in the Blackwater Canyon Area, Monongahela National Forest,
Tucker County, WV, Comment Period Ends: 07/16/2007, Contact: Bill
Shields 304-636-1800 Ext 287.

Found this on the Federal Register page.  Not sure how this affect any trails in the area.
It is in the National Forest though, and we need to watch all of these.

I was able to finally locate the DEIS on this.
It looks like the forest service wants to allow Allegheny Wood Products to restore the railroad bed into a road to allow them access to some of their property.
This road would be closed to all other OHV access.  It appears that the current use of the rail road bed is for mountain bikes, hikers, and cross country skiers.

Attached is the DEIS I downloaded.
Maybe this could be used as a way to access old trails in the area?

Maybe Carla can look at this, and advise if we need to get involved, or what questions we can or should ask.  I know she is busy with planning for CJ and Convention though.

Thanks, Todd. Ive forwarded the info to Dave Hook who is MAFWDA's Land Use guy.
What are you supposed to do when you see an "endangered" animal eating an "endangered" plant?

There is a lot of fighting about who's going to do what in the Blackwater Canyon and any access will be tough accomplish I think.  Let me know if there's anything we can do.
