UFWDA is a charter and 20-year member of TreadLightly!

TreadLightly! is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote responsible recreation.

TreadLightly! develops and publishes outdoor recreation user ethics materials, including a Guide to Responsible Four-Wheeling with Minimum Impact Camping Tips and a Responsible Recreation Tips brochure for Four Wheeling.

TREAD stands for
T – Travel Responsibly
R – Respect the Rights of Others
E – Educate Yourself
A – Avoid Sensitive Areas
D – Do Your Part

UFWDA values its partnership with TreadLightly! because we’ve learned after 35 years of four wheeling that our trails are sustainable long into the future if we use our 4x4s responsibly in a sustainable way. This practice is easier on our equipment and easier on the land, creating a win-win situation.
