We have a limit, however, we have not made a final decision on the number. We will let everyone know when that decision has been made.
Thanks

Hey Marti. Thanks for posting the FAQ list, that really helped out.

I did check the UFWDA Store and saw the shirts, but no meal tickets though?

Be well,
Richard

Richard,
Actually, I typed too soon. The t-shirts and meal tickets are not on the store site yet. They will be up and running soon and you can order them after they are posted on the store site. Sorry about that, we were not able to get them on the registration site, however, they will be up on the store site very soon. Thank you for signing up and we will see you at the Wheel-in!

This is absolutely correct with _one_ minor disclaimer everyone........

I do not have internet access at home (yes, this is on purpose, lucky me!).  I do tech support at work, so refuse to do it at home  ;D.

That means that I will only see your "request for membership numbers" Monday - Friday between 8AM and 5PM est.  Please be patient if you are requesting your Member Number over a weekend.  I will reply to you as quickly as possible upon my return to the electronic world on Monday.

You can ALSO find your UFWDA Membership Number on the label of the Voice.  If you haven't already, you should be receiving one very soon.

Thanks to everyone for your support of the WHEEL IN!

We are already registered, but are considering bringing a second vehicle for our son to wheel as well.  We know we would have to probably do another registration for that vehicle, but wondered if we would still get the member discount since we got it the first time we registered?

Also, one other question.  Is there a minimum age limit on who can drive at the Wheel-In, as long as the driver is fully licensed?

Thanks!

Mike and Lu Anne,
You may sign up for a second vehicle under your membership. If you have any trouble let us know and we will work it out for you.
There are no restrictions on age as long as the driver is licensed.
Thank you for registering and look forward to seeing you there.
Thanks

Marti,
If I missed this question, sorry for having to repeat the answer.
What is the cancellation policy for registrations?

I have a potential conflict that may not be settled until closer to the event.
If it clears, I would like to add the UFWDA Wheel-in to our calendar.
Thus far we have not registered.
Thanks,

Hello once again Marti!

I also have a few friends that would like to attend, but won't know schedules until the event gets closer.  Has any determination been made yet as to the cancellation policy?  Also, has the cutoff number of registered vehicles been established.  And, if so, where is it currently?

Thanks in advance, be well,
Richard

Richard,
We are still determining the number of vehicles that will be allowed at the event. The cancellation policy is as follows:
Members: You may receive a 50% refund if the cancellation is done prior to February 29, 2008. Any cancellation after that date would not be refunded.
Non-Members: The same applies to non-members with the exception of their $30 membership dues.

I hope this helps in your planning.
Thanks
Marti

Just curious about registration....  Is it still open?  Our club (B4W) had our Christmas Party last night and we have around 10 members interested in going.  I am trying to spearhead the information gathering and heard a rumor that registration is closed.  Is this true?

Let's squash those rumors!!!  Registration is absolutely open!!!
You can register at a discounted rate as a UFWDA member.  You will need your Membership # to receive that discount.  If you do not know your # email me at the Office and I will be happy to get that for you!

Title: Wheel-in Registration Qestion
Post by: Loc Pham on January 11, 2008, 01:20:05 pm
Hi,

I'm a member of UFWDA and by mistake I registered for the Wheel-In event as a non-member. I tried to register again as a member but I got a system message saying I already registered. So I decided to send a note explaining my mistake along with a check of $75 as the cost for member registration. I also wrote my UFWDA membership number on my check. I mailed the letter on the 24th of December 2007. I didn't get any response and my check hasn't cashed yet. Not sure if the letter arrived or not. I sent it to the address UFWDA   Attn: Wheel-In 2008   14525 SW Millikan Way #22622   Beaverton, OR 97005.

My mistaken Wheel-In registration ID: 138 for non-member. I don't have my UFWDA membership with me as of this writing. But will provide it if it's necessary.

Thanks,
Loc Pham

Wouldn't you prefer a repair that will last til the end of the trail instead of half-way.  You go with Jimmy it will only make left turns.  First right turn you make, it will break again.  With Boucher it will only go in 3rd gear or higher.  no slower. ;D ;D

Aww, don't worry about them, Chris. I ordered parts, but they won't jump on the CJ. Don't fear the left hand turns either. We have had more fun making lefts on Trail 5 with Hyman at the helm. I would have asked for 'da Bishop, but I'm saving his skills for something that needs fabbing.

Other than the confirmation via the online registration, will we get any other confirmation?  I ended up sending a check in to pay and just want to make sure everything is squared away.  Member number 9344.  I also made the mistake of registering as a non-member but sent a $75 check.

Yes, you can pay by check. You may order the items and send your check to the Beaverton, Oregon address that is on the back of the Voice.

Maybe I missed this item but didn't find it listed in the schedule.
When and were will it be held?  How do we register for it?
I'm somewhat computer dumb so...I did do a search for "Safety Class," but nothing other came up.

Hi Robert,
The registration will not close this Friday for the 4WD Awareness classes. The registration link is on the home page of the UFWDA website on the right hand side of the page. It will be held at Oak Ridge Sunday April 13, 2008 at Oak Ridge Estate, the same location as the Wheel-in. It will begin at 9:00 a.m. and is a six hour course. Please let me know if you have any other questions and I will do my best to help out.

I believe everyone packs their own lunchs, the trail ride runs all day and there will not be a detour to town for grub come noon.

There isn't time to pull over for lunch and eat.  :o

Make sure you bring something good so you can share with everyone.  ;)  Usually in the past the guides up there stop for about a half hour or so. Usually it is discussed among the group once you take off and someone starts getting hungry. You can bring snacks and such and snack along the way. I would suggest getting in Lyle's group he is getting up there in age and has to stop for lunch or he gets cranky.  :-*

Hi Marti,

Several Questions (hopefully they weren't ans. else where):

1. Meal tickets, what are they for, lunch or dinner?
2. Are you looking for vol. for trail guides?
3. How are we being assigned the trails we will be on?
4. Can one switch to a different trail if they already been assigned?
5. Who is playing at the concert?
6. If one (or one's loved ones) wants a break from trail riding, will the mansion be open for tours?
7. Are we wheeling in the rain (memories of Camp Jeep)?
8. I know I signed up, I must look for my return e-mail, are we going to conformation in the form of snail mail (USPS)?
9. Can we skip a trail ride or two, come back later in the day to go out with the "next" ride, assuming this will be like Camp Jeep?
10. If I pick up one of the NY Governor's friends on the way down, can I register them on Wednesday or Thursday?

And finally I would like to thank you, and the others that are staging this...big round of applause!  ;D
I am so looking forward to this.

Hi Al,
This is Marti's trail coordinator.  I am only authorized to answer 6-1/2 of your questions, so I selected ones I figured I could get correct.

2. Are you looking for vol. for trail guides?
A.  I have trail guides collected already.  If you want to throw your name in the hat, just shoot me a PM, and I'll let you know where we stand as far as # of guides, etc.

3. How are we being assigned the trails we will be on?
A.  Here is what is happening as far as trails (from another Wheel-in post):

"...We plan to run the Oak Ridge Loop for the Wheel-in, which is a combination of all the 17 trails used at Camp Jeep, so your A and B trails are included.  We plan to start everyone at different points on the loop, wheel as much of the loop as you can on Day 1, pick up where you left off on Day 2.  Do not expect Tellico, Rausch Creek, Crozet, Wind Rock, etc.  God did not bless us with such terrain on the eastern slope of the Blue Ridge.    Some consider Oak Ridge on par with Uwharrie.  There is plenty of bark at Oak Ridge, and plenty to bite you there as well...."

So every group will run all sections of the trail loop, they will just start at different locations on said loop on day 1 and resume the loop on day 2.

4. Can one switch to a different trail if they already been assigned?
A.  Trails have not been assigned.  We will stage up in 10+ lines, so if you want to ride with your freinds and/or club members try to arrive at the same time Friday morning at staging, so you can line up together.  HOPEFULLY many of you will want to meet and wheel with some new folks, so selecting a line will not matter.

6. If one (or one's loved ones) wants a break from trail riding, will the mansion be open for tours?
A/2.  (This is only half an answer)  Breaks from trailriding will be difficult, but not impossible.  The loop crosses the county roads in many places, at those points you will be able to leave your group after discussing it with the trail guides, however, you will not be able to rejoin your group.  Plan on riding from 9-4 like the schedule says.

7. Are we wheeling in the rain (memories of Camp Jeep)?
A.  Yes.  However, we may have to close portions of the trail loop to ensure participant safety, and for resource protection.  During our Jeep Jamboree 2 weeks ago, we got about 1-1/2" of rain.  The good news was, no one broke any axle shafts or driveshafts because of the lack of traction.  The bad news was, we winched A LOT because of the lack of traction.

9. Can we skip a trail ride or two, come back later in the day to go out with the "next" ride, assuming this will be like Camp Jeep?
A.  As stated above, we will be running a loop system, wheeling from 9-4 both days.  Once the rides start, leaving your group will be difficult but not impossible, rejoining your group will NOT be possible.

10.  If I pick up one of the NY Governor's friends on the way down, can I register them on Wednesday or Thursday?
A.  If you have that kind of disposable income, where you could "bring" one of the NY Governor's friends, and then just take them trail riding, United sure could use a donation from you. ;)

Chris, Thank you.  I will check in with you when I arrive, if you need a tail gunner or a guide I will make myself available.  As long as I can get to all the trails.  And if I could afford the ex-NY gov's habits I would be living at Oak Ridge  ;D.  Just had to throw that in there!

Chris Sine please read below:

Thanks again.

I will try to answer the other questions for you, although Chris did a great job!

1. The meal tickets are for a catered dinner Saturday night. There will be a food vendor available at the vendor area so that you can stick around at night for the free raffle Thursday and Friday evening. You will be responsible for your own lunch.

2. The band is called Mo Debree. They are out of Richmond, Virginia and have a large following. They have a website that is www.modebree.com if you would like to check them out. They are pretty good and I am looking forward to seeing them play.

I think between Chris and I we have covered all of the questions. Please feel free to post any other questions and I will try to help.
Thanks

Wait...I did 6-1/2 answers and you did 2 Marti, that's only 8-1/2 answers.  What did we leave out?

Here goes:
6. If one (or one's loved ones) wants a break from trail riding, will the mansion be open for tours?
A/2.  The mansion will NOT be open for tours.

That's 9 answers.

OK Marti, the last one is yours...

8. I know I signed up, I must look for my return e-mail, are we going to conformation in the form of snail mail (USPS)?
Title: Re: Wheel-in FAQ's

Oops, I missed one, sorry about that.

8. You should get an email soon confirming your registration, however, if you do not get an email and you have registered DO NO PANIC. It simply means that the correct email address was lost in translation somewhere. We have a list that is generated from the website so I do no think that we will miss anyone. All of the information that you will need that is not currently posted will be given to you when you register on Thursday night in a registration packet.

I think we covered them all, but please feel free to ask more questions if you need to.

Al Handy,

I can confirm your registration for you.

You are registration #54 and are all set for the wheel in.  If you need any additional shirts or Meal tickets be sure to order them today, as it is also the last day to order the extras.

Looks like I'm not going to be making the trip.  I've been doing a lot of driving lately putting over 2,400 miles in last 2 weekend trips to TN and have one more to go.  That just takes a lot of zing out of making another 1,000 mile round trip for the wheelin.   I believe the cancellation deadline has already passed.  Instead of having my t-shirt and any other goodies mailed, can I just have a friend pick it up at the registration table?

Eric,

That should be fine, email or PM me at the office and I'll make a note of it.  I'll need to know who you want your things to go to in the email or PM.

Sorry We won't see you there, but your reasons are perfectly understandable!

If everyone is traveling the same trail(s)/trail loop as has been indicated, then is that to say that there are no grades of difficulity such that the novice/early intermediate drivers might be able to stick to trails more appropriate for their skill and confidence level ?  My wife and I have some experience on basic trails in a stock Wrangler and hopefully are not destined for two days of driving situations that are out of our league.

---------------------------------------
excerpt from an earlier post:

Glen, please relax and enjoy your 'wheeling vacation. Boucher can add with his reply, but the trails were built with everyone in mind. Remember Camp is held here. There are bypasses and more than one line. While you are taking the easy route, others will be flogging their rigs on the HARD stuff. There will be very talented guides to assist you, as well.

Glen, Norm has it right. When we do the "Oak Ridge Loop" Everyone sees the same trails, everyone sees the same obstacles. It will be your choice when you get to an obstacle whether you take the obtacle or use the bypass. There is no trail on the "ORL" that can not be successfully negotiated by a stock Wrangler and a novice driver. It will likely take some help from your guides and possibly a strap, but we have never left anyone in the woods, yet. ;D

10 more days !!!!!
Question, are we allowed to come down to registration on Thursday in a slightly more fuel efficient vehicle or is there a "safety inspection" when you check in?
I live in Charlottesville and was hoping to save a few $$$ for that full tank of gas when i get there Friday morning.

Side note: thanks Amanda for the registration help!

Mike,
It is fine to come down in a fuel efficient vehicle. There will not be an inspection at registration.
See you there!

Maybe I missed this but, what do we need to bring to check in?
I think I only have the email confirmation for payment.  Should I bring that? Anything else?
Thanks

Will there be a place to park a tow rig and trailer on Friday and Saturday?

Kimball, there should be enough room at the staging area to leave the Dodge and the trailer. If not, I'll make sure there is room at the camping area for it (3 miles away).

Thanks Galen.

Yes, I did see the overnight parking, but I'm staying off site and want to trailer my rig to the event each day.  Worst case is that I drive it from Amherst, but I'd rather tow it.

Plenty of room nearby Kimball, don't sweat it. Likely be room in the "overnight" area for you during the day.

I tried to read over as many posts as I could, but do we know if our four legged wheelers are allowed to join us for the weekend?

I don't know either, was thinking of bringing our retriever but if its RAINING, really don't want to ride around with that WET DOG smell :)  WHATS THE DEAL?

Jason,
The dog will need to be leashed and under the control of the owner at all times. The dog must be in compliance with local or state regulations and the owner is responsible for being informed of any local or state regulations pertaining to dogs.
Thanks
