North Dakota RTP at risk
« on: June 14, 2013, 09:38:56 pm »
Interests in North Dakota have just heard from Governor Dalrymple’s office that a meeting is scheduled for July 9th to determine whether or not he will opt out of the Recreational Trails Program (RTP) for the next fiscal year.  If he does not opt out, North Dakota trails will receive slightly more than $1 million in RTP funding next year.  If he does opt out, those funds will be spent for other purposes.

Now is the time for North Dakota trail interests to contact the Governor and let him know how important the RTP is to the future of trails in the state.  Attached for your reference is a list of reasons that the Governor should not opt out of the RTP.  You might also want to take a look at the new RTP database ( for examples of projects that RTP has funded in North Dakota.  The database shows that 217 North Dakota projects have received more than $11 million in RTP funding, plus at least $2.6 million in matching funding, since the program began 20 years ago.

Please take whatever actions you can to protect the RTP.
