San Bernardino, Ca - Bye, bye American ride
« on: June 21, 2007, 01:05:10 pm »
Our local government (San Bernardino) now deems it necessary to involve itself in the formulation and implementation of an ordinance which will restrict the use of off-highway vehicles (OHV) in outlying areas of San Bernardino County.

The ordinance as written places unjust hardships and costs on OHV enthusiasts. This ordinance as written clearly panders to special interest groups by our elected officials.

This ordinance will make it so difficult to ride legally where you have for years you soon will be forced to ride only in small designated areas set aside for OHVs.

What is wrong with Ordinance 3973? Itís double talk. Comply with part 28.0404 (staging permit) and you are still out of compliance with part 28.0406 (noise, dust). Part 28.040 (fines) are enforceable by multiple agencies and by officer interpretation.

A responsible Sunday quad ride with a few friends and family members could cost each of you a $1,000 fine and 90 days in jail.

Tell your elected officials to have the laws that already exist enforced against the irresponsible riders and to leave you alone. Or, tell them nothing and watch as yet another piece of your American life is taken away from you.
